Description
Coconut palm sugar is a natural sugar made from the sap of the coconut palm’s flower bud (also called Neera). The sap is collected fresh, then boiled and evaporated until it solidifies and crystallizes into granules or powder.
It is a traditional, mineral-rich, unrefined sweetener, often used as a substitute for refined white sugar or brown sugar. Coconut palm sugar has a low glycemic index (GI 35) compared to refined sugar (GI 68), making it a better alternative for individuals managing blood sugar levels.
The sugar retains many of the natural vitamins and minerals found in coconut sap, such as iron, calcium, potassium, magnesium, and zinc. It is naturally sweet with a mild caramel flavor and is suitable for use in cooking, baking, beverages, and desserts.
