Description
Coconut jaggery is a natural sweetener made by boiling freshly collected Neera (coconut sap) until it thickens and solidifies. The resulting jaggery is then poured into molds and allowed to cool and set.
It contains essential minerals such as iron, magnesium, and potassium, making it a nutritionally superior alternative to refined sugar. Unlike regular jaggery made from sugarcane, coconut jaggery has a low glycemic index and retains more of the natural properties of Neera.
The jaggery is dark brown, semi-solid to solid in form, and has a distinct earthy, caramel-like flavor. It is used in traditional cooking, sweets, beverages, and even as a sugar substitute in health-conscious diets.
Coconut jaggery has a shelf life of about 6 months and is gaining popularity both in Indian and international markets due to its health benefits and traditional appeal.
